SMART Goals

Today I am going to talk to you about how to incorporate personal development into your everyday life. It’s a game changer. It’s a business changer. It’s one of the three vital behaviors. It is something that I personally wouldn’t be doing if i wasn’t coaching. If you, in general, want to be a better person: personal development. If you want to improve your relationships: personal development. It’s something that will grow you, and help you, in turn, grow your business.


My favorite is podcasts. Its an app that you download to your phone. Its free. It has inspirational and motivational speakers doing podcasts from all over. My favorites are Shilling Johnson, Entrepreneur on Fire, and School of Greatness. Those are just a few of my favorites, but I have browsed around and branched out and have tried other ones too. I download the ones that apply to me, ones that I need improvement on. When I was running over the summer, I would plug in and listen to those downloaded podcasts. That’s how I got my personal development in. I want you to think.. mindless activities, that you could do mindful activities like listening to an audio book, or a podcast. Running and training over the summer is a perfect opportunity. Then winter hit, and I’m not outside training anymore. But there are certain workouts that I can do, that I’ve done enough times or that are not as detailed, that I turn down the trainer's voice and turn up the personal development. And still follow my workout, and get a great workout in. You could also listen to personal development podcasts while doing laundry, because you are just sorting clothes. Or while you are doing dishes or cleaning the house. Think of something that you do that doesn’t take a lot of thought that you could plug in and listen to a podcast of personal development. Then you can’t have the excuse that you didn’t have enough time.

When it comes to books (the written word), you have to take time to sit down and focus. As a mom, when I was nursing I would pull out my personal development book. (This doesn’t apply to dads as much) I would use those 10-15 minutes towards personal development reading, instead of wasting time. Obviously, first thing in the morning, while you’re laying in bed, if you can turn on the light and get your personal development in, go for it. Or, I come down into my office first thing in the morning and I can get it in while the kids are sleeping. Same thing in the evening, right before you go to bed.

I suggest scheduling it in. As with anything, it is easier to do it if it is on my schedule. You can set an appointment that is personal development time. That way, when someone calls and says “Hey do you want to do something?” you can say, “hmm, I’ve got an appointment at that time.” Obviously, you might not do it to that extreme but schedule it in and do it every single day. Start with 10 minutes. It’s like with anything, start small and then work into it. Right now, I’m a year into the coaching business with BeachBody and I put in a least an hour of personal development a day, with audio and written. I’m a part of a mastermind group, where we have a book that were reading and each week we discuss a chapter. That’s one option to do with your teams, to choose a book that everyone’s reading, and then get together once a week to discuss it. That’s another great way to implement personal development. Those are some of my tips for getting used to and making it a part of your everyday life and in turn, improving your business. Definitely one of the three vital behaviors that you don’t want to leave out. It is easy to do, and easy not to do, but make sure you do it!

Negative Goals

Today I want to share some personal development that I have been listening to. It is from Darren Hardy. He is talking about goals and living your best year.


2016! Why not?! Why can’t it be the best year ever with your fitness, business, and relationship goals?


A lot of times we set goals with things that we want to do but we forget about the things we want to stop doing in our lives. Today I was thinking about the things that I don’t want to be doing.


My challenge to you is to look at your goals and things that you want to reach for and do, but also look back and choose 3 things that you don’t want to do this year.



Some of mine are personal but some of them are:
  1. I don’t want to have sugar during the week. I do enjoy my sweets and treats, but if I do have a nutritional goal that I want to stop doing, that is it.
  2. With my business, I want to stop scrolling Facebook. It is a time waster, and I don’t have a lot of business that can be happening during that time. As a mom of four, I definitely want to use my time wisely as best as I can and when I am working I want to be doing things that are building my business and not wasting my time.

Those are just a few examples. Call them non-negotiables, or whatever you want to call them. Choose 2-3 things that you want to stop doing this year in addition to the goals that you want to reach. In reality, when you stop doing certain things, it’s going to lead you closer to your goals.

Why You Might Not Be Setting Goals for the New Year

I just want to share a few things today about setting goals, and why maybe you haven’t been setting goals. 2016 is going to be your year, and things are going to be different, because you are going to set smart goals.
Even though the importance of setting of goals is to build the kind of life and relationships that we want, there’s only a small group of people that actually set goals, and write them down, and actually change their lives.

Why is that?
There are a few reasons why people don’t set goals:
  1. They never learned how. Their Mom and Dad didn’t show them, so they had to learn it on their own. At that point some people decide they don’t care to learn anymore.
  2. They are afraid of failure or they have failed before. Has that ever happened to you? You set big goals and weren’t able to reach them so you took a step back and decided to not try any more. And that could be with your fitness goals: maybe you didn’t lose that much weight, so you stopped. Or your business goals: you didn’t reach a goal with your business, so you gave up.
  3. The fear of success. "I might be successful, and I don’t know what to do anymore." Some people are afraid of success.
  4. Some people don’t set goals because they are overwhelmed already. They feel like they have so much going on, that they can’t fit anything more into their lives. But goals can be as simple as, “Today I am going to make my bed,” or “Today I am going to make a grocery list before I can go shopping.” Just making small, manageable goals is the stepping stone to reaching BIG goals.

Hopefully you don’t fall into one of those four categories, but if you do...I challenge you to break out of that, and to set smart goals!

Shakeology Snack Bites

Ok, ok...let's be honest that for MOST people a sweet tooth never really goes away!! For realz!!

So, the next best thing is to find a substitute for something sweet that doesn't have all the unnecessary refined sugar to create that sweetness.

I've made these before, with great success, so I picked up some dates the other day at Winco. (P.S. it's taken me two years of living here to make it into Winco and I don't know why I haven't gone before...they have the best price on raw almonds and almond butter...and a slue of other items in bulk ;) )

But, I digress...

So, these are super yummy and super "kid-approved"...they pretty much disappear after 10 minutes, if I'm not fast at hiding them in the fridge.

**ope...i just got a craving to have one ha!**

I use my too-small-but-still-works food processor, to make these. The regular blender wasn't such a hit. And those of you with those fancy blenders like a Vitamix or other cool one (that I wish I had) will probably get away with it.

Super easy to make:

10-12 dates
1/2 c. almonds
1/4 cup of shredded, unsweetened coconut flakes
1-2 TPSP Chocolate Shakeology (OR you can use 1-2 tsp cocoa powder)

*mulch*
Add about 1/8 tsp water, as necessary (careful not to add too much so it doesn't get too sticky)

Add a dash of sea salt, and mulch for 2 seconds longer

Mold into balls and dig in!!












I'm telling you... you won't be disappointed. ;)

Just be sure they are handy for you if you are tempted to indulge in something less healthy.

The BeFIT Tribe is a group of motivated individuals who provide support, motivation and encouragement to people on a daily basis to help them achieve their health and fitness goals.  
I  provide FREE coaching advice and support to people who are enrolled as my customer or coach with a free Team Beachbody account.  As a coach, my job is to help you set realistic health and fitness goals.  Then, together we create an action plan.  I never focus on the big picture, instead we break it down into manageable smaller chunks.  We work to overcome things like emotional connections to food, traveling, meal planning, healthy snacks, and just plain motivation.  Everything that we need to be successful is right here.

I really love running challenge groups.  They are truly my passion.  Challenge groups have been the best way for me to get to know my customers and to help them on a daily basis.  A challenge group is all done through Facebook (and soon there will be an APP where we will have our challenges--making it more accessible for those not on Facebook.) Each participate purchases a Beachbody fitness program and commits to drinking Shakeology for at least one meal a day.  In return, I will help you with meal planning, grocery shopping, planning and staying on track. The small group environment really does work!  


Now that my business is growing I also help my coaches that have joined my team to duplicate my success.  I do this through weekly mentoring calls, our closed Coach Facebook support group, and live events all over the United States.  There is no greater feeling in the world than seeing coaches succeed!!!

INDEPENDENT BEACHBODY COACH INFORMATION and COST?
  • There is a one time fee of $40 to become a Beachbody coach.  This is not a yearly or recurring fee.  You can also get that $40 fee waived if you sign up with a challenge pack or you or your spouse is active military then that fee is waived! (I can explain those options in more depth as we chat).
  • There is a monthly website fee of $15. Beachbody gives you three canned websites where you can do some minor personalization. One site is a Beachbody coach siteone is a  specialized Shakeology site (only available for sale through the Team Beachbody Coach network) and the third is your Ultimate Reset Site.  I have decided to create my own blog to share my experiences but it is not required.

To remain an active coach you need to have a Personal Volume (PV) of 50 points per month. Purchasing a month's supply of Shakeology (at a 25% discount) is 90PV for example and you've got the PV requirement covered. I agree with Team Beachbody's methodology that you need to use their product in order to be able to explain the benefits of the research they've done. Plus, their supplements actually taste a whole lot better than other stuff I was using.

    • You receive a 25% commission on anything somebody buys from Beachbody using one of your links. Somebody purchases a copy of P90X, you get a check for $29.96.

But I also have some individuals who want to grow a business and create a full time income!  You will attract what you put out.

    • No inventory to carry, Beachbody takes care of everything.
