Learn Something New

Sunday morning study. 📚
It's so refreshing to focus on spiritual things for more than just 30 minutes. .
The boys' internal alarm clocks were right on target this morning with their getting up before 7. At least it was AFTER 6. 😒
---
We have daily opportunities to learn...through life, through books, through experiences... It's up to us to use that learning to bless our own lives.
I am reminded by Dallin H. Oaks that, "Beyond increasing our occupational qualifications, we should desire to learn how to become more emotionally fulfilled, more skilled in our personal relationships, and better parents and citizens." Goal this week: learn something new.
An education is NOT limited to formal study. 😉 ‪#‎education‬‪#‎lifelonglearning‬

Creating Change

Here I am, in all my glory, in my best morning look.
😆
Twenty ounces of water to start the day--the only way I can get all my water in is if I start early.
😁
Workout done.

Power Hour of coaching done.

I used to be able to get my Personal Development done as well, but I've had to revamp my schedule to accommodate my early risers.
😩😩
So PD comes after breakfast!!
It may seem monotonous but each day is a little different and it's these simple daily tasks, compounded over time, that create CHANGE!!

Two Birds. One Stone.

A little Personal Development DURING my workout does two things:
1. Makes the time go by faster.

2. Fills my mind with uplifting thoughts BEFORE the chaos of the day.

Two birds.
One stone.
----
Everyone is hard wired for connection, love and belonging...it's what gives purpose to our lives.
My goal, as a mother, is to be sure the boys don't feel a disconnection with any of those 3 attributes.
We moms have our work cut out for us.  ‪#‎stilltheBESTcallingever‬ ❤

Goals are meant to be REACHED

Goals are meant to be REACHED! 🙌
They are markers for you to gauge your progress and know where you’re going…reminding you what you want to achieve.
Although weight is no longer a goal for me, per se (except to maintain)…my goal is to CONTINUE on the path of daily exercise and healthy eating habits.

This is a lifestyle now.
And I’m not stopping! 😉
You know my story....
I had a baby (well, 4 of them).
I felt frumpy and was tired of my clothes fitting tight…tired of wearing maternity clothes at 4 months post partum. 😣
I knew I wanted to get in shape…and even lose some weight.
Thanks to social media and my little finger that was scrolling Facebook one day, I found a post from a friend about a workout program and a nutrition shake that helped her lose weight.
I inquired about it, and decided to TRY it.
Sixteen months, 5 fitness programs (most recently completing Hammer & Chisel), and 482 days of drinking Shakeology LATER…I’ve maintained my initial 30 pound weight loss, have more energy, FEEL great and feel like i LOOK great (gotta love yourself, right?!) and have created this lifestyle that promotes healthy habits for my family!
To me, THAT is success!
My story is different from yours.
Be the NARRATOR of YOUR story. We are all on a different chapter of our lives.
How will YOUR story go?
.
Are you looking for a chapter on weight loss or getting in shape?
Would you like a challenge to keep you motivated to reach your personal goals?

Are you motivated?
Do you have specific goals you want to reach?
Are you interested in exercising and fine tuning your nutrition to help you reach your goals?
This is not a quick fix, or a magic pill you’ll take…but it’s a LIFESTYLE you will create for yourself. ARE YOU READY? 💪

Or, comment below with “me” if you’d like more info on the challenge, to see if it’s a good fit for you! 🙋

Water

I've been researching more about WATER--not that I don't already know of its importance, but that I'm interested in learning more of the scientific side of things as it relates to our bodies.
-------
One of the first symptoms of dehydration is thirst. ‪#‎duh‬
But by then, it's already too late and you should have been drinking all day. 💦
Some days we may feel tired. But who associates fatigue with dehydration?
However, the two are linked. When your cells don't have enough water, your body's response is to slow everything down and thus, you may feel sluggish and TIRED.
When we feel tired when it's not bedtime, what's our typical response?
Maybe some caffeine or something to give us energy. Maybe something full of sugar and simple carbs like a granola bar or donut. But this does nothing for our hydration. If anything it makes it worse. Both of those things use up water in order to process...which makes us crave MORE water.
Next time you're feeling tired and it's not close to bedtime, evaluate your water intake.
--8 glasses a day, keeps the...eyelids open. ‪#‎kiddingnotkidding‬
Seriously though, a good rule of thumb is to drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces each day. 👍

Loud and Proud

Loud and proud!!

I'm going on 16 months of drinking Shakeology and now I have this fancy shaker bottle to sport my habit.
I've been more conscious of my overall nutrition, than ever...because of accountability.

Coaching isn't just a job, it's an opportunity to practice what I preach.

Meet Hilary!

Meet Hilary!
She is a fellow coach inspiring others with her story of overcoming guilt and depression about her weight through taking charge of her health with Shakeology and fitness programs.
smile emoticon
After having 3 children, she needed help with the weight loss and found her coach who introduced her to Shakeology and the 3 Day Refresh--that was the start to her overcoming her weight loss plateau.
About Shakeology, she says, "No more guilty cheating food pleasures. Shakeology gives me that sweet tooth satisfaction without making me feel guilty!"

.
Incorporating Shakeology into her meal plan has improved Hilary's overall nutrition, thus aiding in her weight loss journey. She's an example that nutrition plays a GREAT role in a healthy lifestyle.

Way to go Hilary! Keep inspiring others on your journey! ‪#‎feedyourbody‬

I finished Hammer & Chisel

These days are always my fav!
It means I accomplished something I've worked hard at.
8 weeks, and another program, are in the books!!
.
This program, The Master's Hammer and Chisel, wasn't easy...it pushed me...helped me try something new (weights)... changed me
💪
...and reminded me that I CAN do hard things.
🙌
My favorite part is that EVERY DAY I felt like my whole body was worked! I love these kind of programs.
---
I'm 2 1/2 weeks out from the cruise
😉
so I need to stay FOCUSED and keep my nutrition
dialed in...cuz who doesn't want to look good and FEEL good before traveling?!

Beachbody On Demand

Hammer & Chisel finished me off mid week yesterday so, instead of starting a new program just yet, I'm going to play around these next 3 days in Beachbody On Demand's library of programs.
((Then...I get my FIX on with 21 Day Fix Extreme.))

It's like a Netflix version of fitness programs.

I had a love-hate relationship with INSANITY last October...but my greatest TRANSFORMATION came when I transitioned from running races in the summer (and using random fitness programs to cross train) to completing the Insanity program
🙌
soooooooo.... I HAD to workout WITH Shaun T this morning, trying Insanity Max:30!! ‪#‎imaxedout‬

Only 30 minutes!!
I can do anything for 30 minutes! (Right?!)
The worst is when he says, "When you can't do one more, do THREE!"

Did you know you can have access to the same library of over 20 complete programs (including P90X3, TurboFire and Slim in 6), with sneak peeks into select newer programs (like 21 Day Fix and The Master's Hammer & Chisel) for FREE for 30 days?

COMMENT below if you'd like access to the library of programs to try for yourself--and see if there's a program that's a good fit for you!

How To Strengthen Your Team Through The Law of the Picture

Hi leaders. I was just reading this book, John Maxwell’s Laws of Leadership. I’m sharing this with you, but don’t feel like you can’t get this book; it’s a great book on leadership. This chapter is called The Law of the Picture.
When you think about a picture, it’s what you see. So as coaches we need to be doing what we want our teams to be doing. We need to inviting, if we want our team to be inviting. There are a few parts in here that I want to touch on.
One is a quote by John Woodin saying, “Show me what you can do, don’t tell me what you can do.” That’s our teams looking at us, they are asking us to show them. We can talk about inviting, we can talk about the three vitals, but if we’re not doing those things then we aren’t teaching and modeling for them. There’s a few things we want to remember as leaders:
  • Our followers are always watching you, we know that.
  • It’s easier to teach what’s right, then to do what’s right. Yes, it’s easier to tell your teams “Be doing these things, if you want to build your business,” but you have to doing it and that’s the harder of the two.
  • We should work on changing ourselves before trying to change others. That makes sense with anything in life. If we want someone else to improve, we need to improve ourselves first.
Here it says “Leaders are responsible for the performance of their people, the buck stops with them.” They accordingly monitor their peoples progress, give them direction, and hold them accountable. This comes back to keeping your coaches engaged. We’re asking them how they’re doing, and we’re seeing where they’re at, and we give them suggestions on what to do/give them direction, and then we hold them accountable. So we say, “Here’s your goal. I recommend..”  I always try to reword it so that I’m not saying it’s my goal for you, but it’s their goal and what I challenge them to do. Then I follow up with them to hold them accountable and that’s a part of helping your team.
“The most valuable gift a leader can give is being a good example.” That is common sense; to set the example and do what you’re asking your teams to do. If you’re applying this law, you’re improving yourself, then turning around and being that picture that they’re looking at.
“How do I train my new coaches?” Let me look at Brittany and see what she’s doing.
“How do I invite?” Let me look at Brittany and see what she’s doing.
“How do I post?” Let me look at Brittany and see what she’s doing.
I’m not saying that I’m perfect, but for me leading my team I need to be doing those things. Whether it’s perfect or not, I need to be that picture of a successful and actively building coach, if I’m teaching my coaches to build.
I thought I would share this with you, because it was a great chapter. And I recommend getting this book and studying it. It’s like a workbook that will ask you questions at the end of each chapter.

You are a leader and remember that, whether you have one coach or you have thirty coaches. You are an example to them. Be that picture of what a coach should be doing each day!
